As children we are told our potential is limitless.
But now I see the truths they should have told us.
That childhood is the time for your hopes and dreams
and adulthood is reserved for worry and business schemes.
They told us never give up, give it your all.
but the truth is the higher we climb the further we fall.
I used to believe it was as easy as turn 18, land a job, be a man.
But it’s more like building card pyramids while facing a fan.
See life is hard, hurtful and always intense.
Because we live in a world that makes more money than it does sense.
Life can be a prison from which we can not be freed.
That’s why so many of us turn to the booze or the weed.
It’s our escape our few hours away from fear.
A quick fix to make those inner demons disappear.
Until life become a cycle of fear and intoxication.
But with every day lost so is your chance of salvation.
See in life you never win you just do a little better
A lesson I learnt the day I met her.
An angel who took me from the dark into the light
and showed me how to lock my inner demons out of sight.
The woman that became the sun to my skies
Who showed me an alternative to violence, drugs and lies.
I was lucky to be shown the errors of my behavior
So I thank you my angel, My savior.
